These words of former US President Theodore Roosevelt define the young blood that permeates the Queen City Toastmasters, more so, the passionate young men and women that comprise the club’s Executive Committee for the coming Toastmaster year.
Like the Royals that come before them, the new officers – outstanding professionals and students in their own right – exemplify the dynamism and sterling reputation the club of champions is known for.
The new president, Ivan Velasquez, last year’s vice president for public relations, helms the marketing initiatives of the M. Lhuillier group of companies. A Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of San Jose –Recoletos, he believes in hard work and does not leave success to chance.
He looks at the future with constant enthusiasm and sees the club as a platform for constant growth.
Inherently competitive and certainly not a stranger to pressure, Ivan jumpstarts a new Toastmaster Year with a bold battle cry: Challenging excellence!
He says creating and producing more champions for the club, sustaining the current membership, and building stronger ties with other clubs are among the items in his bucket list as president.
These items may rally a tough climb but Ivan is confident the club can live up to expectations.
In his own words, Queen City “has a vibrant and young following of able leaders that are thirsty for personal growth and stronger relationships.”
He is confident, too, that the members of his Executive Committee will face the challenges head
on. Behind him is a roster of young and dynamic Royals ready to conquer the world – Joy Roman, TM (Vice President Education), John Philip Po II, TM (VP Membership), Kleman Roy Senyahan, TM (VP Public Relations), Anna Marie Robinson, CC (Secretary), Ven Michael Cinco, TM (Treasurer), and Alger Remerata, TM (Sgt. at Arms). Guiding this pool of talents is no less than District 75’s Toastmaster of the Year for 2013-2014 - Chappy Piramide, ATM-S, the club’s Immediate Past President.
